The Morning After, November 5th, 2024. We flunked. We were given the most obvious of lessons any mass could hope for, and we flunked. No sense disputing it. We actually chose to lower our standards, just to accommodate the standards of a self-obsessed egomaniac, aspiring to be tyrant. I seriously doubt the next egomaniac that comes along, will be so out-of-the-closet brazen. For 15 years, I’ve written — The Story of Our Times. The story, history provides. History, includes yesterday. I am but a scribe. It is history, that provides the backdrop to why Democracies even came about and once there, it’s been history, which cautions us to never neglect our vigilantly wary, due-diligence responsibility, but to stand guard against the one thing — Democracies can’t afford to tolerate. The very thing, we stooped to tolerate. Currently, over half of our voting population is elated about what we have done, and it will take some time for their elation to settle down. Time, the rest of us can’t afford to idle away. Currently, fingers are pointing at who’s to blame. Pelosi says it’s Biden’s fault for not stepping down sooner. Others point to the DNC powerhouse for not getting the word out better that Harris was running—not Biden. Some point to the Obamas; that their support didn’t help. But when we tire of the blame-game, the question to how, we actually allowed an egomaniac to take our Democracy for another spin, will still remain. It took a gazillion years for organisms to become multicellular. Between 800 to 500 million years ago, animals, mammals and the makings of humans emerged. Around 6 million years ago, we gained the emotion packet. Around 2 million years ago, our cortex finished baking; now readied for high-thinking business. Our species thus became an emotion-fueled, consciously-aware, communal mammal. And all along the way, the prime reason our species didn’t join the 99% extinct ones, is simple. All communal beasts still living, all worked out their good-for-all, shared-valued parameters for survival. So the only real glitch our nomadic ancestors sustained, occurred once they wandered into large society existing. Years now counted in mere thousands, the all-inclusive survival system; which all surviving communal beasts adhered to, had our species coming up against the unseen, ultra-exclusive system, of class structure elitism. For the next 6000 years, the bulk of all humanity then endured the horrific domination tactics every supreme emperor, king, tyrant, unleashed on the slave, the lowly, the commoner, the us. That is, right up til the years—were counted in hundreds. Miraculously, our ancestors survived the horrific. Our closest lineage 250 years ago; armed with some real grit, then embarked on a realignment back to the all-inclusive system our species survived by, and for millions of years — prior to horrific. Democracy is, our very own shared-valued, thriving way to survive ruling system and yet, they are waning all across the free world. Why? Great question worth exploring cuz waning, implicates free world us, have been resting on our laurels. Meanwhile, the great mass appears destined to forever suffer needful egomaniacs, driven by evermore power, evermore glory. In this contrast; existing in the ultra-exclusive elitism system vs the DNA-stamped all-inclusive necessity, houses the lesson that obviously, we just forgot. A contrast, playing out on a now-global, high-tech economy scale, setting the backdrop for the next them vs us showdown. Now, was definitely not the time to neglect our vigilantly wary, due-diligence responsibility. Our lineage, had grit enough to leave their homelands, grit enough to usher in the only ruling system to champion our DNA-stamped, shared-valued default. What they chose to no longer accept, is why freer existing even came about. A 250-year-old, hard-won lesson, encasing why we must never neglect the top dog status our gritty ancestors bequeathed us. Why then, did we just undermine ourselves? This frames the conversation we must initiate. While at it, we must candidly ask ourselves — what measure of their grit, do we still have? *A continuum of — The Mornings After, November 5th 2024, are in read tab above: Picking up the Pieces.
